Tottenham Hotspur travels to Leicester City for a very tough away match on Saturday at the King Power Stadium. The Spurs’ inconsistent beginning to the season continued midweek with a disappointing 2-2 draw at Olympiacos to open the Champions League. A visit to the Foxes of Leicester will be a difficult test for a side struggling to string together results.

Going away from home and getting a result is never easy no matter what league you play in. That’s especially true for the Spurs, who have a very poor recent history in away matches. Mauricio Pochettino’s side hasn’t come away with full points from a match away from home since beating lowly Fulham in January. For a team that has expectations of contending for the title and Champions League, that record simply isn’t good enough. For Tottenham to break that horrid streak of winless away matches, they’ll need to avoid the defensive mistakes that have cost them already. Harry Kane has avoided his typical early season slump and has found the back of the net three times already. Despite the good attacking output, it’s been the defense that has let them down in their four matches without a win.
Brendan Rodgers has Leicester City back among the Premier League elite early in his first full season as manager. His side sits in fifth through five matches and was unlucky with a 1-0 loss to Manchester United last weekend. Otherwise, they could be even higher in the table. If there’s one person who relishes these meetings with the top clubs it’s Jamie Vardy. The English striker is notoriously prolific against the Top 6 clubs in the league with an incredible 31 goals against those big teams since 2014. They’ll need Vardy to be on target once again if they’re to get a positive result against the Spurs. The romanticism around Leicester faded a bit last season with a poor showing, but they have the chance to re-establish themselves as a threat for European places this season. A win against Tottenham would be a great start in getting there.
